Re: How to preserve IPTC/XMP metadata when compositing?

You might find that swapping the image files, then using "-compose DstOver -composite", does what you want.

Re: Compose modulate creates very dark results

It looks to me that ... convert image.jpg watermark_symbol2.gif -set colorspace RGB -compose modulate -composite test.jpg ... gives the result that old IM versions did. This is another consequence of IM generally converting from sRGB to RGB space before doing the required operation. Telling IM that ...

Re: How to preserve IPTC/XMP metadata when compositing?

I don't know if ImageMagick can copy all metadata. I would use exiftool:

Code: Select all

exiftool -tagsFromFile top.tiff result.tiff

Re: Compose modulate creates very dark results

The documentation (http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/compose/), discusses only the case where the overlay is black and white, not gray. Perhaps you now need to use the brightness seting. Can you provide samples?

Note that 6.7.8 isn't the latest version.

Re: Not able to resize images to <150KB file-size

It works quite well for me, IM 6.7.9-Q16 on Windows 7. What version of IM are you running? "%IMG%convert" AGA_0960.jpg -resize 1000 z.jpg "%IMG%convert" z.jpg -define jpeg:extent=150kb y.jpg Sizes: AGA_0960.jpg 16022 kb z.jpg 635 kb y.jpg 161 kb Converting to jpg twice will lose quality, so it's bet...

Re: How to draw auto fitted text on image

For some versions of IM, "label:" can do automatic pointsizing. Otherwise, a two-step solution can be used. Windows script: FOR /F "tokens=1,2" %%i IN ('%IM%identify -format "%%[fx:min(w,h)*0.17]" %INFILE%') DO ( set POINT=%%i ) "%IMG%convert" ^ %INFILE% ^ -density 72 -colorspace RGB -weight bold ^ ...

If you supply a sample where the problem occurs, people might take a look.

Re: lossy compression or lossless compression?

Thanks. But I want to make sure wether it will cause some loss of quality to convert to png or gif. What exactly do you mean by "quality"? If you remove bits from pixels, you lose information. This may or may not be visible in the result. If you will be further processing the result, it's best to k...

Re: SVG convert clipping error

The OP shows PNG files, not the SVG.

The SVG file contains:

Code: Select all

width="400pt"
height="400pt"
Elements go beyond these boundaries. Changing them to 500 captures everything.

Re: TIFF conversion errors

"-quiet" should turn off warnings but not errors.

Using "-layers flatten" on this will place the thumbnail in the top-left of the full image. Which might be exactly what you want, of course.

Re: TIFF conversion errors

As you can see, the file contains two images. One is 4192x2666, the other is 160x101. Maybe Photoshop recognises that one is the thumbnail of the other, so doesn't bother to show it.

Don't worry about "tag ignored" warnings.

Re: Transparent pixels changing color when scaling

On IM 6.7.9-Q16, Windows 7, with fmw's command, I get the same result.

6.5.8, 6.6.0, 6.6.1 and 6.6.2 are fine.

Re: Object identification in an image

Rather than "-threshold", it's better to modify "-level". This one is rather sensitive: too low and we mistake particles for bubbles; too high and at best we shrink the bubbles, at worst we eliminate them altogether. For any image there is one optimal value. The two supplied images need different va...

Re: Object identification in an image

Compared to the OP image, tubes have changed position (trivial to correct) and the lighting has changed, so I would expect the script not to work entirely. But it isn't too bad. If you visually compare m4.jpg with the recently posted XKcOC.png, m4.jpg has all the bubbles and has eliminated most of t...
