Re: jpeg file does not read in microsoft photo viewer
interesting, thanks -- 2 systems with win 7 have failed to open the file. And your one has. Not sure how to tell version of the software either seems to be built in to win7. Seems to be quite a few people on the internet with a similar problem but no real solutions

jpeg file does not read in microsoft photo viewer
Hi all Have a bit of a strange problem -- http://81.143.7.209/0001.jpg This file appears to be a valid JPEG and can be opened in many programs but not in Microsoft Photo Viewer (win 7) If I just convert this to jpg using imagemagick, it then opens. Identify -verbose does not give much away - does an...

Deskew image, give me the data
Hi all I am processing a form which has a very slight skew on it. This form is scanned at 24bpp JPG If I try to deskew the image, it doesn't work, presumably due to the colour/algorithm whatever If I threshold the image to black and white, then deskew it deskews perfectly. However is there a way for...

Re: batch resize in a folder?
change your comment tag from :: to REM
there are special cases where :: doesn't work (inside a for loop may be one) it's possible windows is interpreting the letter after the : as a drive letter hence the error message.

Re: Identify only retrieves partial IPTC info - BUG ??
for /f %%i in ('identify -format "p_caption=%%[IPTC:2:05]" test.jpg') do SET %%i Be careful with quotes in quotes - you may want to rewrite that as (with the delims trick as well) for /f "usebackq delims=" %%i in (`identify -format "p_caption=%%[IPTC:2:05]" test.jpg`) ...

It seems like you've solved your problem there.
You can use SETLOCAL ENABLEDELAYEDEXPANSION at the start of your script to enable the mode you need. Also http://ss64.com/ is invaluable resourse when doing stuff in XP Cmd environment.

Re: Can someone explain what the difference is?
Hi I have adjusted the commands and I now beleive it is outputting what I require - great! Except I added +0+0 to the shave / splice commands but I still am getting a 4 page output file? Here is my command: convert %filenameext% ^ -gravity northeast -crop %pagewidth%x%pageheight%+%offset%+%topmark% ...

Re: Can someone explain what the difference is?
After further processing I have realised that the final output of the 'multi' command is actualyl what I want, and the all in one has the problem of the image 'shifting' What appears to be happening is the splice is pushing the image over to the left. I shall post up some examples. But, the all in o...

Can someone explain what the difference is?
Two set of commands here : one is split into 4 seperate commands, the other is all in one. The separate commands produce an output the is shifted to the right by about 100px, the all in one 'seems' to produce the 'correct' output. What have I missed? By shifted to the right I mean the block of text ...

Resizing to 100% x 1pixel
Hi How can I take a set of images, which will be roughly 2300x3300 pixels and resize this to 2300x1, or in the case of a 2345x3230 sized image, resize this to 2345x1. Essentially I want 100% image width, but 1px height. I can't seem to get IM to do this. The only way I can make it do it is using ! b...

Re: Breaking out large images from group 4 fax TIFF
I make that about 214 GB uncompressed at 1bpp..... That's quite large. Why would you want to use uncompressed TIF? TIF G4 is a good standard for bi-tonal images. As for manipulating such a beast, I know there are programs which can work on massive images b only loading a small part into memory, but ...

Re: Read command options from a file
depending on just how long your command is and how long it might be, could you possibly get by by just renaming the files to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc..? You wouldn't even need the extension as imagemagick should be able to know what it is by reading the file. That could save a lot of characters. ...

Re: Processing tick boxes on forms. A method.
Nice work! Thanks for sharing it! I am having some trouble figuring out the batch file structure, but I think the labels are missing. Could you add them? (:checkline, :processfile, ...) [edit: looking closer, I found :checkline, but :pocessfile?] Is this all one big file? Do you have some procedure...
