Convert Aborts on MacOS/Macbook Pro

Post by ctmcmullen »

I recently used macports to update the ImageMagick package on a 2012 MacBook Pro running Mojave. Now conversion starting with a postscript file is
completely broken.

$ convert test.ps test.png
Abort

See versions below. I have the same software installed on a newer iMac and it works there. ??? All suggestions welcome!

First, if possible upgrade to the latest version 6.9.10.53 or as high as you can go. Unfortunately, MacPorts is way behind and does not keep up well. You might want to use Homebrew. Second GS 9.27 is reported to have some errors as was 9.26. So downgrade if possible to 9.23-9.25. Third, there is an entry in the policy.xml file for permitting the use of PDF/PS/EPS files. (See https://imagemagick.org/script/resources.php). You may want to check that, however, I doubt that is causing an abort. I seem to recall having that problem a while ago. If I recall, it was fixed in a later release of IM.

I am on Mac OSX Sierra and typically install all my delegates using MacPorts but install Imagemagick from source. That way I get he latest versions all the time. Here is a link to how I do that. http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-se ... =1&t=29100
